BEST Enchiladas....

As I've mentioned before, I would not label myself a good cook, BUT I do like to try new things and when something is as yummy as this, I MUST tell the world :)  Last night, I made Spicy Avacado Chicken Enchiladas from The Novice Chef blog.  I have made enchiladas a few times and this is by far the BEST and Ben would agree.  It smelled so good that I didn't have time to take a picture before we scarfed it down.

Make this for your hubby and it will be a BIG HIT!

*I obviously paired mine with a Pinot Grigio and the spicy and sweet together were amazing!

Surprise Project

The past 10 days for me has been go, go, go.  I got back from a work trip on Wednesday and left on Friday for a bachlorette party weekend in Amelia Island, FL for my sweet friend Kandy.  I made the trip down with my other consultant friends Mary Ellen, and Jane Anne.  Even though the three of us were only there fore 36 hours, it was fun to catch up!  The bachlorette party night was "80s" themed.  Is it sad that all my clothes were found in my own closet?

When I returned on Sunday evening, I was exhausted.  I got out of the car and was greeted by my handsome husband.  It took me a minute to realize the surprise that was right in front of me!!  Ben had installed outdoor lighting by the steps.  This was something we both really wanted and he did it while I was gone.  He also put down pinestraw in the "flower bed".  We haven't planted a thing and are just trying to figure out what to do next and what is already there.  I definitley want to add some color, but for now, I'm VERY excited about the lighting.  We still need to find a lantern light poll for the bottom of the flower bed to finish the outdoor lighting.

Our house is definitely a home now, but there are lots of little touches that still need to be done to make it look "complete".  Our bedroom definitely needed something about the bed, but I wasn't sure what.  I found this cute vinyl on Etsy's for like $20.  It came in rather quickly and we were able to put it up yesterday.  I love it!!

Work & Play

The Worley's schedules have not been sinking up very well lately. As a friend said to me "you will never get this time back with your husband.". It's so true!I was leaving for work for Charlotte on Thursday and not coming back until next Wednesday. I had thrown out the idea a while back about Ben driving up after work on Friday and staying the weekend.

My good friend Jennie & her hubby Les live here so I always stay with them which is a treat! On Tuesday, Ben found out he could work remotely on Friday which was awesome news! On Thursday, Ben rode with me to Charlotte, we both worked here on Friday and then got to have double date night with Jennie & Les! It was so much fun! On Saturday morning we woke up and all ran for 45 mins. My training for the Peachtree Road Race is coming along....The Boswell's had a party on Saturday night so Ben and I decided to have date night at a restaurant another friend recommended. We started off at the Wine Store where it's basically "wine on tap". It's the best concept. Then we headed to Georges for amazing French cuisine!

Ben is leaving town this evening via the Megabus (ticket was $13). We've heard nothing but great things about this double decker, computer connectioned, wi-fi pimpin' bus! I can't wait to hear Ben's thoughts on this bus!!

My handsome date :)

God Bless the USA

Our weekend started off on Friday night celebrating my co-worker Maria.  She became a US Citizen so we toasted her with margaritas and tacos :)  I know, it's not your typical American food, but who can really say no to margaritas and tacos?  Prior to arriving, I did sing Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" twice to Ben and I think he was genuinely afraid that I was going to sing it at the restaurant, but I refrained ;)

On Saturday evening we celebrated my dear friend Kandy and her fiance Adam at their couples shower.  It was so fun seeing Kandy's family.  Looking forward to standing by her side in her upcoming wedding!

Prior to the shower, we had an impromptu cleaning out of the flower beds.  When we bought the house, it was covered in leaves.  We don't currently have a leaf blower (will be our next big purchase), but the leaves were so tangled up in random spots in the flower beds that I had to get in there and dig.  Yes, manual labor!  Our goal was to fill it with straw or something on Sunday, but it was a very rainy Sunday.

Sunday ended up being a "Lazy Sunday" for the Worleys, but as Ben said, it really wasn't that lazy.  We served at the 9 a.m. church service, picked up the house a little bit, and grocery shopped.  Oh, and of course, called and wished our mom's a Happy Mother's Day.  I did get a little emotional after getting off the phone with my mom because sometimes it stinks being the only one far away!  Ben said I was really emotional because they were eating at my favorite restaurant, the Waterfront Grill, and I couldn't have any Shrimp Rahkee!  Other than that, it was fun just being in our lil bubble, even if it were only for a little while.

The Year of the 30!

This weekend my fabulous friend Sarah had a very "posh" 30th birthday party at the Livingston Bar & Restaurant which is inside the Georgian Terrace.  Before the festivities began, I went with Sarah and her mom as well as our friend Betsy to get manis/pedis.  I heart girlie time!!  Betsy just got engaged so it was so much fun getting to hear "the story" and see her so excited!!

Since the Livingston is already very "posh" (this is so my new word) with clean lines, there wasn't much decorating that we needed to do, but my friend Jessica and I wanted to make sure it was special for Sarah so we added vases full of white roses on all of the tables and created a fun "classy" chalkboard.  Now, the chalkboard was made from a painting that Ben had.  When we were packing his stuff up to move, I was picking my battles on what could go to the house and what to go to Goodwill.  He really liked this painting, but lets be honest, it was not that great.  I wanted to used the frame because it was so large, so I painted it with metallic paint and then painted the center with chalkboard paint and Voila!!  A super cute accent to decorate with at showers/parties.

We had a great time celebrating the birthday girl!  The Year of the 30 is going to hit me soon, so I'm trying to get prepared!!!

Green thumb....

When it comes to gardening, I'm clueless.  All I know is they need water and somethings need more sun than others.  We planted some flowers in pots for our front porch several weeks ago and they are doing ok, but I wanted to add a little color on our back porch.  I've never bought flowers that weren't already blooming until this past weekend.  I walked outside yesterday and the first bloom was there and for some strange reason I was excited?!?!  When did I become this person??

Cinco de Mayo

I am not one to shy away from a holiday especially if it involves chips, quacamole, and margaritas!  Since Ben will be gone for Cinco de Mayo and I will be celebrating my friend Sarah's 30th Birthday, we decided to celebrate Cinco de Mayo last night.  Steak and veggie tacos, quacamole, lime chips (since it was a "holiday", we didn't get Baked chips - splurge ;)), and of course margaritas!!

When we sat down to eat, Ben started saying the blessing - in Spanish!  I have no idea what was said, but  I just starred at him ridiculously as he prayed.  Apparently he blessed our family, our home, and the food.  He was definitely carrying out our "themed night".

Happy early Cinco de Mayo!!!
